Travel to a graveyard and select the grave of the person you wish to be able to call on. Stand astride the grave, with one foot on either side; at the place where you estimate the corpses head and chest to be. (Do not stand upon the grave directly. If you are unable to stand astride the grave, sit next to it instead.) Take a bit of dirt from the grave and place it in the center of a hexbag and bundle it up with a long string, leaving quiet a bit of string hanging loose. Tie a triple knot at the loose end of the string, saying:

With one knot, I wake you.
With two knots, I bless you.
With three knots, I conjure you.
Wake, wake, wake, O Spirit!
I bid you sit up within your grave andβ€”
if it would please you
β€”to come and work magic with me.

Stay at the grave for a while, explaining what it is that you want from the spirit, laying out the timeline for your proposed pact, and letting them know what you will give them in return (offerings, service, etc.). When you feel the working is over, leave an offering (coin, cake, liquor, etc.) and end by saying:

I leave this. It is yours.
Whether you join me or no.
I will wait three days and nights for your answer.
And then will disturb you no more.

Take the hexbag with you and leave the cemetery without speaking or looking back. Wait for signs or divine for answers over the course of the next three days. If you feel that the spirit has said yes, they will assist you in your magic or task, keep the hexbag in a safe place and hold it when you wish to call on the spirit. If you feel that the answer is no, return the graveyard dirt to the grave, wrap a coin in the cloth of the hex bag, and leave it on the headstone.
